Book Your Child A Place

Following The eyfs (Early Years Foundation Stage)

Our curriculum is designed to follow the EYFS Statutory Framework (Early Years Foundation Stage) and is further guided by a document called ‘Development Matters’ that sets out the learning, development and assessment requirements for all children in the Early years.

The EYFS uses the term Learning and Development to describe seven areas of learning. These are all related to each other; however, they are divided into Prime and Specific Areas.

the goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn.

literacy

Books, puppets, songs and mark making are used to allow children to explore communication on all levels and to develop their attention skills. We encourage a love for stories and the written word and understanding that “print” has meaning. We know that the more stories a child hears, she/he will accumulate more words and become better communicators. Many resources for mark making are available, which helps strengthens their fine motor skills. We focus on Phonics Stage One.

mathematics

We help children understand how we use maths and numbers every day, in the world around us. Our environment is set up so that children discover shapes, numbers, space and measuring through play. They begin to understand the relationship between numerals and their value. Small world toys, puzzles and construction toys naturally involve mathematics.

understanding the world

Understanding the world involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community. We help foster their understanding of our culturally, socially, technologically and ecologically diverse world by providing an enabling environment including visits from various professions. We celebrate each child as an individual and as a member of their own families and our preschool.

expressive arts

We encourage art, wholeheartedly. Art is an essential part of a child’s development. It allows them to express themselves, develop their creativity, and build their confidence. Art also helps children to develop their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and cognitive skills.

"Park Way is a beautiful pre school with a warm community spirt with such kind, positive staff. You’re child will receive the greatest support you can imagine. I have been blown away by how Park Way have gone out of their way to accommodate and support mine and my daughters needs in many ways. That personal touch and kindness goes along way. This flexibility is not always something you find at a pre school and it is gold dust. I can not recommend Park Way highly enough."

"My daughter adores her couple of mornings at Parkway. She comes out energised, chatting away about the lovely things they've been up to. As a working Nanny I've been to several early years settings but never one so attentive to the individual child. They make you feel that your child matters and isn't one of many, this personal touch really does make all the difference. All the staff are wonderful and the preschool has managed brilliantly in light of all the changes with Covid. Keep doing what you are doing and thank you!"
